LAKE MONROE - APRIL 16, 2023 - The search for two Indiana University students was discontinued Saturday night after the two went missing.

According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Siddhan Shah, 19 and Aryan Vaidya 20, were boating on a pontoon boat with friends when the group anchored to swim.
When both of the men did not surface, friends tried to help be were unsuccessful.
Rescue personnel used side scan sonar and scuba divers searched the area were the two were last seen, but the operations was stopped once darkness fell on the lake.
Indiana University Student Services assisted in transporting the group back to campus and providing counseling services.
Units assisting in the search include the Monroe County Sheriff's Department, Bloomington Police Department, IU Police Department, Monroe County Dive Team, IU Dean of Students Office, Monroe County Fire Protection District, and IU Lifeline Ambulance.
