Salem resident notifies his intent to sue the city on water issues

SALEM - SEPTEMBER 29, 2023 - Salem resident Cody Halstead has sent notification to several individuals including local media that he intends to file a formal lawsuit regarding water issues in the City of Salem.


The intent to file a formal lawsuit was mailed to The City of Salem Mayor, City of Salem Board of Works Superintendent, Indiana Department of Environmental Protection Agency Region 5, and news agencies.


In Halstead's email to the Lawrence County Zephyr he states:

" I have established a large gathering of files that indicate that the City of Salem Water Works, and the City of Salem Mayor have continued to betray the trust of citizens and violate numerous state and federal laws in regards to drinking water.


The City of Salem was assessed a total of $14,000 in fines for the violations, even though Salem Mayor in a public forum. The fine notices with his signature have been obtained,"
