"Rescue Robin" Nears $30,000 Goal for White River Humane Society

BEDFORD - OCTOBER 14, 2022 - " Rescue Robin" fundraiser is nearing the goal of $30,000 with just over $27,000 raised at this time.

This year's fundraising goal was 30 days or $30,000 and in 14 days the goal is just about reached. Robin Compton is hoping he gets to go home, and is nearly exhausted from the excitement of this year's event.

" I enjoy helping out with this fundraiser and have for the last four years, helping out the White River Humane Society. I love pets, and this year over the Fall break was an excellent time to come out and do this," said Parkview 5th grade Journey Mills of Bedford.

Jan Halstead, who has volunteered at the White River Humane Society stated that while she was at Wal-Mart this morning, the store manager asked how their store could help this year.

Store Manager Mike Lloyd has committed $1,000 from the Wal-Mart Foundation which will be applied for, and check given to this year's cause at a later date.

WBED 90.3 radio station will be out on the parking lot with a live broadcast of Shannon & Deb on Saturday morning. Compton is hoping a business will get the WRHS over the goal with a generous donation.

The community has been very generous making sure Robin Compton was fed while he camped out on the parking lot of Rural King. Rural King has been supportive of the White River Humane Society and fundraising efforts for the last couple of years.

The White River Humane Society wants the community to know they are thankful to everyone who has contributed, and donations are needed all year long.
