Update: Sullivan Mayor Reports confirmed Tornado

SULLIVAN - MARCH 31, 2023 -Update: The Mayor of Sullivan, Indiana confirms a tornado has touched down. The Mayor is asking residents to stay safe and stay put.


"Multiple residences have experienced severe damage. First responders need to clear streets so they can tend to affected areas.


Please pray for the Sullvan families and public safety personnel," Sullivan Mayor Clint Lamb.


Emergency personnel from Greene, Knox, and Vigo Counties are responding to assist Sullivan County in search and rescue efforts. At this time, it is unknown how many residents have been injured.


There are several reports of storm damage throughout southern Indiana from the latest storms.

There is unconfirmed report of a possible tornado touch down southside of Sullivan. Search of the area for victims is underway.



The Sullivan County 911 Dispatch Center is down for the moment and Shelburn Fire Department is without power.


Several fire departments and emergency personnel have been dispatched to assist.



In Owen County, a radar indicated tornado was near Spencer. Indiana State Police has dispatched McCormick Creek State Park due to reports of storm damage.
