BEDFORD - AUGGUST 23, 2023 - Public Notice of Petroleum Release, Spill or Overfill
Although local health departments are not the regulatory authority over underground storage tanks, they are required by statute (IC 13-23-16) to inform the local public of the discovery of released regulated substances at an underground storage tank site or in the surrounding area under 329 IAC 9-4-1 (1) or a spill or overfill under 329 IAC 9-4-4 (a).
• The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM), which regulates facilities and sites with underground storage tanks (UST), was notified on August 22, 2023, of such an incident from the owner or operator of the Mullis Petroleum facility located at 1018 J Street in or near Bedford, Indiana in Lawrence County.
