Public Meeting on Oolitic Middle School Held Tuesday - NLCS work Session Thursday

OOLITIC - MARCH 21, 2023 - The North Lawrence Community School board will meet in a work session being held on next Thursday March 30, 2023, 5:00 pm at the school administration building. The public will meet ahead of the scheduled work session in Oolitic to discuss the matter.

The work session next Thursday will focus on the vision of school corporation in the coming years. Work sessions are open to the public; however, the public does not have a right to speak, they can only observe those meetings.

However, the NLCS is seeking input from the public to make an informed decision on any action taken by the school board.

Craig Godsey has organized a public meeting on Tuesday March 28th, 2023, at the Masonic Lodge in Ooltiic from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. located at 35 Hoosier Avenue.

" This meeting is to discuss our hopes and dreams for the future of Oolitic Middle School. All topics will be covered, and all voices are welcomed," said Godsey of the meeting.

The former NLCS school board have voted twice in failed attempts to close the school. However, enrollment and other factors may determine the fate of the school.

In November 2019, former NLCS school board and Visionary Committee recommended for the closure of all the middle schools in the corporation and move them into Bedford Middle School to provide better opportunities for students and collaboration among NLCS staff.
