Person fell off cliff near Judah on Wednesday afternoon

JUDAH - FEBRUARY 22, 2024 - On Wednesday afternoon Monroe Fire Protection District units were called to assist Marshall Township Volunteer Fire Department in Lawrence County for a rope rescue.

Marshall Township was dispatched at around 5:19 pm for an individual who fell over a cliff and could not get back up.


Upon Marshall’s assessment of the scene they requested mutual aid from Monroe Fire Protection District due to needing rope rescue equipment and personal.



Stations 21 and 22 along with Battalion 22 responded to Old State Rd 37 in Lawrence County in the Judah area.


Rope rescue personnel from MFD rigged up a rope retrieval system and sent two firefighters over the cliff to the injured individual.



Firefighters loaded the person in a stokes basket and then had crews on top of the cliff pull the individual up to safety.


Once pulled up the individual reported minor injuries and was checked out by ambulance personnel.
