Oolitic Town Marshall Harrington Give Council Monthly Report

(OOLITIC) - ( March 28, 2022) - Oolitic Town Marshal James Harrington gave a monthly report of activity during the town council meeting Monday night.

Harrington informed the town council he cannot enforce the 20 miles per hour speed limit throughout the town. This is because no engineering study has been conducted. According Indiana Code - Motor Vehicles - Title 9, Section 9-21-5-6 Speed limits greater or lesser than reasonable; alteration by local authority; engineering and traffic investigations; validity of speed limits; conditions Sec. 6. (a) Except as provided in subsection (e)


According to Harrington no engineering studies have been conducted and therefore the speed limit below 25 miles per hour cannot be enforced at this time.




In addition, Harrington also asked the town council to start considering leasing a police vehicle. The town's Crown Victoria is back in shop, and a lot of money has already been paid to make repairs to the vehicle. Harrington has provide further information on possible leases between Autor dealerships.
