Oolitic Town Council Member Johnny Bob Dillon Explains Installation of Narcan Oolitic Fire Station
Lawrence County Zephyr
OOLITIC - (November 29, 2021) - In order to prevent Opioid overdoses Oolitic Town council member Johnny Bob Dillion stated that a Narcan box has been installed at the fire station.
" Two ladies I know had a hard time getting into treatment in this county. I am afraid someone is going to die before we get them into treatment," said Dillion.
Thanks to former Lawrence County Judge Michael Robbins and DMHA was helpful in getting the box.
" Thanks to Fire Chief Ted Maze for allowing the installation. If this keeps five out of the ten addicts a live until they recover this is worth it," said Dillion.
The location will not be monitored by cameras.
James Harrington also, asked the council for permission to use Narcan for his K-9 as it is the same dose.
Earlier this year, Oolitic Town Council members voted down an ordinance that would have allowed a drug treatment facility. Residents expressed concerns over the location of the facility and lack of police coverage to respond should an emergency occur.
