Oolitic Marshal's Office Makes Drug Arrest During Traffic Stop
OOLITIC - SEPTEMBER - 27, 2022 - During a routine traffic stop Monday night the Oolitic Marshal James Harrington, and his K-9 Deny made a drug arrest.
Timothy W. Gerhart, 35, Indianapolis, was arrested for Operating while suspended, Possession of legend drug, maintaining common nuisance, four counts of possession of meth, possession of paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.
The Oolitic Marshal was on patrol at 10:50 p.m. on State Road 37 just north of the traffic lights when Gerher was traveling north on State Road 37 with the vehicle headlamps were blue in color, and the passenger license plate lamp was also blue in color.
Harrington made a traffic stop of the vehicle, and during the traffic stop an odor of marijuana could be detected from the vehicle. Gerhart also told officer Harrington he had a weapon on his person. According to Gerhart he smoked marijuana prior to leaving Gatlinburg, TN.
Officer Harrington searched his vehicle and located meth, smoking device and a legend drug. Another handgun was located in the vehicle during the search.
Gerhart was taken to the Lawrence County Security Center.
