ONE PERSON DIES IN GREENE COUNTY FIRE ON PATE LANE

SOLSBERRY - DECEMBER 26, 2022 - One person has died following a fire on Pate Lane just northwest of Solsberry on Friday night.

Several fire departments from Greene and Owen County are responded to a structure fire near the intersection of Mcville Road and Pate Lane north of Solsberry.

The 911 call already reported the home fully engulfed in flames.

The call reporting this structure fire came in at 11:36 p.m. Friday night with firefighters from Beech Creek Township, Center-Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department in Greene County, and Clay Township from Owen County responding to the fire.

Cold temperatures, and wind gusts made fighting the fire difficult. Utilities District of Western Indiana was contacted to disconnect the power.

The fire is being investigated by Beech Creek Township Fire Department and Indiana State Fire Marshall's Office. Fire Chief Brandon Eads says no other information can be released at this time.

Beech Creek Township was assisted by the Center-Jackson Fire Territory, Clay Township Volunteer Fire Department, Greene County Ambulance Service, Greene County Sheriff's Department, Greene County Coroner's Office, and Indiana State Fire Marshal's Office.
