One Injured in Three Vehicle Crash at State Road 37 and 29th Street Saturday Morning
BEDFORD - (December 6, 2021) - One person was seriously injured in a traffic accident at State Road 37 and 29th Street Saturday morning at 5:07 a.m.
According to police reports A red Nissan Pathfinder driven by Marie Curley, TN was slowing or stopped in traffic at the light at 29th street, as well as a Peterbilt 579 driven by Greg Artman, who was also slowing or stopping in traffic was hit by a White International Ryder Box truck being driven by, Samantha Draughan, Indiana.
Draughan stated she was traveling southbound on State Road 37 when she noticed the semi in front of her was stopped at a red light. She thought the light turned green but vehicle 2 was not moving, next thing she knew she rear-ended the semi-trailer. Draughan stated she was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. She stated she was traveling about 55 miles per hour when the accident occurred.
Two other witnesses stated that both the Nissan and Peterbilt was stopped at the traffic light. Draughan was transported to IU Health Hospital Bedford, then airlifted by Stat-Flight helicopter to a Lousiville,Ky Trauma Center.
Bedford Police, Bedford Fire, IU Lifeline Ambulance and Weavers Wrecker Service responded to the accident scene.
