Charles Wesley Porter

November 15, 1976 - May 11, 2023

HOBBIEVILLE - Charles Wesley Porter, 46, died May 11, 2023, in Greene County, Indiana.

Born November 15, 1976, in Gainesville, Florida. Charles was the son of Charles E. (Linda) Porter and the late Alice (Chuck) Tidwell. He was a 1994 Graduate of Bloomington North High School, Bloomington, Indiana. Also, Charles later attended Vincennes University for a short time.

Charles was always willing to help whenever needed. In 2009, the American Red Cross presented him with an award for his heroic actions for pulling an unconscious motorist out of a burning car. This was just one example of the type of man he was. His kindness did not go unnoticed throughout his life. Charles had a way to make everyone feel special in his presence. He would walk into a room, and you would always be greeted with a smile, handshake or hug. He was a true family man, making time for his wife, children, and grandchildren each day. His unconditional love spilled over to his extended family and friends.

Survivors include his loving wife, Melissa (Jewell) Porter, and sons, Konner and Gage, at Home. Daughters: Marissa (Justin) Miller, Alanna Porter, Autumn (Brandon) Clark, Dakota (Nick) Gunnels, and Hope Henderson of Bloomington, Indiana. His Father, Charles E (Linda) Porter. His Father-in-law, Terry (Mary) Jewell. Grandchildren: Lily, Magnolia, and Tinsley Miller, Violet Porter, and Malakai Derringer. Brother: Thomas E. (Brandy) Porter, Delphi, Indiana. Sisters: Carrie (Matt) Jewell, Bloomfield, Indiana. Patsy Keys and Jessica Fletcher of Florida. Biological Mother: Nancy Howard, of Florida. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Alice (Cazee) Tidwell, which he often referred to as his Angel on Earth. Mother- in- Law, Donna Shaw. His grandparents, Delbert and Bernice (Rutledge) Cazee of Smithville, Indiana and Charles and Virginia (East) Porter, of Bedford, Indiana. A sister, Shelly Floyd, of Florida.

A Celebration of Life has been scheduled for Monday May 22, 2023, from 4-6 pm, for family and friends at Karst Farm Park, 2450 S Endwright Road, Bloomington, IN 47403. Please bring your favorite memory of Charles and a covered dish to share. In lieu of flowers, please consider a monetary donation to the family for future expenses.
