Murder suspect Casey Brown's home burns in Fort Ritner Wednesday night

FORT RITNER - FEBRUARY 28, 2024 - The home of murder suspect Casey Brown was destroyed by fire Wednesday night. The home located at 4078 Fort Ritner Road was fully involved by fire when the call was dispatched to fire crews.

Firefighters was dispatched to the fire around 8:19 pm and due to the circumstances related to last Saturday's murder of Kobe Stancombe 21, Bedford at the location; the police was contacted.

Several police officers with the Indiana State Police and Lawrence County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene.

The firefighters from Marion Township, Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department, and Lawrence County Fire Territory Ambulance and Carr Township VFD from Medora responded to the scene.

Several gallons of water was used to fight the fire having to go several miles to reach a water supply.

A nearby camper caught on fire, about 45 minutes while trying to get the blaze under control. Firefighters was kept busy keeping the fire from spreading to nearby vehicles and garage.

At the time of this report there was no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire is not known at this time and is being investigated for cause and origin.

Casey Brown is in a Louisville Hospital due to self - inflicted injuries in a stand-off for several hours at a Hucks in Paoli, Indiana. The stand-off lasted several hours with local law enforcement after Brown refused to exit his vehicle.

Brown will remain in the hospital for several more weeks.
