Multiple Trees Down Throughout Southern Indiana Causing Traffic Issues

SOUTHERN INDIANA - NOVEMBER 5, 2022 - Law enforcement agencies throughout Southern Indiana is reporting trees and powerlines are down. Motorists are asked to use caution when traveling.

In Martin County, Windom Road is closed near the intersection of Ridge Road due to powerlines are down. In addition, multiple trees and power lines are down on State Road 450 north of Trinity Springs. State Road 550 between Lacy and Spout Springs Road.

Emergency personnel from Martin County fire departments, county highway, and Daviess/Martin County REMC are working to get the roadways open.

Indian Creek has been dispatched to assist Martin County in tree removal due large number of trees down on at the Martin/Lawrence County line on State Road 450.

In Brown County, multiple trees and powerlines are down all over the county. Multiple fire departments, county and state highways are working to clear the traffic in those locations.

In Lawrence County, reports of tree down over the roadway on the Fayetteville/Williams Road, Avoca/Eureka Road near Carver Lane has a tree in the powerlines. Indian Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department along with Lawrence County Highway is clearing the roadway.

The Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department responded to the 300 block of North 5th Street for a electrical line down.

A tree in power line is reported in on Empire Lane in northern Lawrence County. The Marshal Township Volunteer Fire Department and county highway have been contacted to assist in getting that area cleaned up.

A wind advisory is in effect by the National Weather Service until 4:00 p.m.

There about 3,000 Duke Energy customers are without power at this time in southern Indiana.
