More than 242 Years of Teaching Experience to Retire at the end of School Year - MCS

MITCHELL - MARCH 14, 2023 - The Mitchell Community School board approved the retirement of six teachers at the end of this school year, during the last two school board meetings.

With the retirement of these six teachers more than 242 years of experience will be leaving the school district. According to school officials more than 190 of those years, was spent teaching in the Mitchell Community School District.


Teachers set to retire at the end of the 2022 -2023 school year:

  • Kevin Giggy - 2022 - 2023 school year

  • Onalee Giggy - 2022 - 2023 school year

  • Tim Haworth - Mitchell Health and Physical Education

  • Danny Reynolds- Mitchell Community School Transportation Director

  • Ada Reynolds - Special Education Teacher - June 30, 2023

  • Jeff Selby - Mitchell CTE teacher at the end of 2022- 2023 school year

Other personnel changes approved:

  • Jacob Riley - Mitchell Junior High and High School Choir Teacher resignation effective May 22, 2023

  • David Crockett - resigning Mitchell High School Special Education Aide effective May 19, 2023

  • Daniel Taylor - resigning Mitchell High School Shift Class " B" Custodian/Maintenance effective March 3, 2023

  • Jeffery Selby - resignation Varsity Soccer - Resignation effective February 14, 2023

  • Michelle Zehr - resignation Mitchell High School Dance Team - resignation effective end of 2022 - 2023 season

  • Kristen McDonald - resigning Assistant Varsity Volleyball coach end of the 2022 - 2023 season

  • Debbie Pemberton - resigning - food services - effective March 17, 2023

  • Shannon Terrell - resigning School corporation Bus Route # 3, effective March 10, 2023
