Monroe Fire Protection District Responds to two structure fires within minutes of each other

BLOOMINGTON - FEBRUARY 9, 2023 - Monroe Fire Protection District was dispatched to two separate structure fires within seven minutes of each other this afternoon.

Crews were first dispatched to the 1700 block of S Curry Pike for a possible trailer fire. As units were arriving on the scene another structure was dispatched on W Industrial Blvd less than half a mile from the first fire call.



Units on S Curry Pike located a small fire in the utility room ceiling and was able to quickly extinguish it before it spread any further. The homeowner reported hearing a load pop then noticed smoke in the utility room. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.



On Industrial Blvd workers reported smelling something burning and noticed a smoky haze in the building. Firefighters arrived to nothing visible from the outside. The building was searched, and firefighters found a small electrical problem. MFD was assisted on the scene by Ellettsville Fire Department Engine 81 and City of Bloomington, IN - Fire Department Engine 4.


No injuries reported at either incident.
