Monroe County School Corporation in search of School Superintendent


MONROE COUNTY - MARCH 7, 2024 - The Monroe County Community School Corporation (MCCSC) Board of School Trustees will be undertaking a search for a new superintendent for the 2024-25 school year. Current Superintendent Jeff Hauswald and the Board have successfully agreed to a buyout of the remaining term of Superintendent Hauswald’s contract.



Dr. Hauswald will remain in his position as MCCSC Superintendent through the end of this academic school year. The MCCSC Board of School Trustees thank Superintendent Hauswald for his service to Monroe County education and to the MCCSC community.


“Dr. Hauswald has been a strong advocate for public education and has moved MCCSC forward in dealing with difficult subjects that challenge all of us that are in and support public education.”


" We have a lot of work to do in Dr. Hauswald’s remaining months and we know that Dr. Hauswald, the Board, the school community and the community at large will work tirelessly to continue to move us forward so that we do not lose any valuable time. We thank Dr. Hauswald and wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors.” in a statement released by MCCSC Board of School Trustees.

Superintendent Hauswald has served as the MCCSC Superintendent since July 2021 His leadership accomplishments include: Successfully creating the district’s 2021-2025 equity-centered strategic plan. Leading the successful passage of the 2022 referendum with a focus on teacher and staff compensation. Leading the successful passage of the 2023 MCCSC referendum resulting in the district’s first comprehensive early childhood education program and the elimination of school supply fees, testing fees, college tuition fees, and more.


Presiding over the district’s largest pay increases over three years with an increase to beginning teacher pay from $40,000 to $57,750. Leading the district out of the COVID pandemic and reforming operational logistics and staffing-related challenges that resulted from the pandemic.


Dr. Hauswald’s success is based upon the support he and the MCCSC Board of School Trustees have received from students, teachers, staff, families and community members.

I am grateful to the administrators who work tirelessly to help our schools excel and have enjoyed the opportunities to lead them and to learn from them. I am proud of our accomplishments, and I look forward to watching from afar as the Board President and new leadership create a new and innovative path forward for the Corporation. I look forward to a strong finish to this school year and do not want my departure to be a distraction to the important work to be done between now and June 30, as well as the important work to be done thereafter," said Dr. Hauswald.
