Mitchell School Board Updated on Capital Improvement

MITCHELL - JULY 14, 2022 - The Mitchell Community School board received updates on the Captial Improvement project that is underway.



The turf is expected in later in the week and steel will be delivered for the Maintenance Building.



During the school board meeting approved to authorize the sale of surplus property which include items from the softball equipment and IT products.


The estimated $16.8 Million project includes:


High and Middle School


  • Auxiliary Gym/ Concessions - $5,000,000

  • Contingency - $250,000

  • A/E Fees - $320,000

Elementary School


  • Traffic Improvements $1,100,000

  • Roofing - $1,022,000

  • Contingency - $200,000

Athletics


  • Practice Facility - $1,100,000

  • Turf football field - $850,000

  • Infield Turf - Baseball/Softball (includes drainage and irrigation) - $1,500,000)

Administration



Maintenance building - $1,000,000

  • Demolition - $95,000

  • A/E Fees - $69,000

Junior/Senior High Roofing


  • Roofing - $765,000

  • Contingency - $70,000

  • A/E Fees - $52,000

HVAC/Chiller Replacement / Energy Upgrades


  • HVAC/ Chiller Replacement/ Energy upgrades - $100,000

  • Contingency - $100,000

  • A/E Fees - $68,000

STEAM / STEM Lab Renovations


  • STEAM/STEM Lab Renovations - $584,000

  • Contingency - $50,000

  • A/E fees - $47,000


In other business:


  • Voted to recertify the School Board Election districts which will remain the same as previously. This year Mitchell Community School District 2 is up for re-election

  • Approved the return to School Plan for 2022-2023 the plan will be similar to last year's opening during COVID 19

  • Appointed Suzanne Patton to Mitchell Community Public Library Board

  • Approved Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapy assistant, for the 2022-2023 School year

  • Approved the Mitchell Community School Adminstrator Benefits Package

  • Approved to employ as needed to open the school in case of resignation of unfilled postion

  • Award the bid to Mehrinder for Mitchell Community School HVAC renovations for bid of $957,292

  • Approved the following resignations:

  1. Lindsey Prichett - Mitchell High School US History Teacher effective end of 2021-2022 school year

  2. Joel Parsons - Harfield Elementary Grade 2 Teacher resignation effective end of 2021-2022 school year

  3. McKenzi Arthur - Mitchell Junior High School Nursing staff resignation effective end of 2021- 2022 school year

  4. Stacy Rayhill - Burris Elementary Classroom aide resignation effective June 21, 2022

  5. Steve Mcbride - Mitchell High School 1-1 Aide Resignation end of 2021 -2022 school year

  6. Marisa Lane - Cheerleader sponsor Mitchell Junior High School resignation effective end of 2021- 2022 school year

Congratulations to Dawson Glassco and Ben Seitzinger for being named to the class 2A IHSBCA - All State Team


2022-2023 School Year registration Date and Times

  • Monday July 25 - Online - opens at 8:00 a.m.

  • Wednesday July 27 - Onsite - opens 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

  • Thursday July 28 - Onsite - 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
