Mitchell Police Officer Transported to Hospital with non-life threatening injury

MITCHELL - JUNE 8, 2023 - A Mitchell Police Officer was transported to IU Health Hospital Bedford with a non-life-threatening injury.


The officer's name is being withheld until a press release from the Mitchell Police Chief Troy Loboski can be obtained.



According to reports the officer responded to a domestic violence call in the Walker Addition.


Shortly before midnight the officer said he was being choked and put out a request for assistance.


Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department and IU Health Ambulance Service responded to a report of "Officer Down" call at 12:03 am.


Officers from the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department and Bedford Police Department; as well as Orleans and Orange County Sheriff's Department responded to assist. Currently, the Mitchell Police Department is down to only three officers at this time.

Upon arrival the only complaint the officer had was an elbow injury and was being transported from the scene to the hospital for evaluation.


A taser was deployed and the suspect who name is not available at this time was taken to the Lawrence County Jail.
