Mitchell City Council votes to reduce speed limits to 20 miles per hour on some city streets

MITCHELL - NOVEMBER 15, 2022 - The Mitchell City Council voted to reduce the speed limit to 20 miles per hour on certain city streets. The city council made the final passage Monday night, and the signs will be put up in the next few weeks.


This comes after residents were concerned about speeding throughout certain areas of the city.

The following streets in Mitchell will have a 20 mile per hour speed limit:

  • North 9th Street between Main Street and Hancock

  • Rabbitsville Road from Hancock to Hamilton Boulevard

  • Warren Street from the railroad tracks to Merdian Street

  • Brook Street from the cemetery to the railroad tracks

  • 12th Street from Brook Street to Hancock
