Local Bedford Native Clenches the 2022 UMP National Championship

Judah, IN - January 15th, 2023: Lawrence County’s Zach Sasser received his awards for National Champion and East Regional Champion at the 2022 UMP Banquet in Springfield, Illinois with friends, family & crew by his side.

Zach began racing stock cars in 2014 when he jumped in the seat of a Mini Stock at Bakersfield Raceway, Thunder Valley Raceway & Brownstown Speedway. Two years later, he jumped behind the wheel of a KidzMod. While racing the KidzMod, he raced at various dirt tracks in the Illinois/Missouri region. In 2017, Zach made the move into a Super Stock and headed to the 1/4 mile dirt oval in Brownstown, Indiana. His racing skills and program have continued to progress and improve just in time to prepare him to run for a National Championship beginning in the Spring of 2022.

During Sasser’s speech at the UMP Banquet he said, “Everything we do, we go at it 100%. All in or don’t do it at all. If it wasn’t for my family, we wouldn’t be able to do this.” That proves to be very true looking at the results and accomplishments over the past 2022 race season.

Zach Sasser, driver of the TSR Super Stock powered by a Jerry Davis Racing Engine, wrapped up his 2022 season with 37 Races, 7 Wins, 32 Top 5’s, 34 Top 10’s and bringing home the title of UMP National Champion, UMP East Region Champion and Brownstown Speedway Track Champion. While chasing the National Championship, SBR raced at Brownstown Speedway, Bloomington Speedway, Rock Crest Raceway, Paragon Speedway, Circle City Raceway, Lincoln Park Speedway & Thunder Valley Raceway.

Zach, (Age 20), is just one half of Sasser Brothers Racing (SBR). His younger brother, Isaiah (Age 16), also drives a Super Stock at various dirt tracks across Indiana. SBR is a race team that stems from multiple generations of racing and the Sasser Bros. definitely have racing in their blood!
