Lawrence County Solid Waste District Receives Full Payment after lawsuit with owner B&D

LAWRENCE COUNTY - MARCH 6, 2023 - Lawrence County Solid Waste District has won a lawsuit against Bill Matthews in the amount of $4,440.28. plus, court costs of $125.00. Bill Matthews was the owner of B&D Disposal, which was purchased by Rumpke.


Bill Matthews has paid the amount in full.



The amount has now been paid in full by Bill Matthews after being sued by the Lawrence County Solid Waste District for invoices not paid in full.

The account was opened in 2017.


According to the lawsuit in small claims court the last payment was made on January 29, 2022, in the amount of $1,762.21.


The lawsuit was filed in Lawrence County Superior Court II on September 12, 2022, and on October 19, 2022 Bill Matthews did not appear in court. A summary judgement was entered on October 19,2022 in favor of the Lawrence County Solid Waste District.


Bill Matthews was ordered to appear in court on January 4, 2023, at 9:30 am and Bill Matthews again failed to appear in court.


Bill Matthews was ordered to appear in court on March 29, 2023, at 9:30 am however, the Lawrence County Solid Waste District received payment and this court date is no longer needed.


Bill and Lisa Matthews have exited the trash business and sold some of their collection assets to Rumpke Waste & Recycling and Rumpke began servicing the former B& D customers on January 29th, 2022.
