LAWRENCE COUNTY - FEBRUARY 17, 2024 - The Lawrence County Sheriff Greg Day in a Facebook post this morning appreciated all the efforts of his staff and other agencies who had to respond to numerous calls on Friday during yesterday's snow event.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office personnel responded to 85 calls for service from a little before 4pm until just after 9pm last evening.
The vast majority of those were crashes, slide offs, and motorists stuck in the roadway. However, domestic disturbances and other emergencies did not stop due to the weather.
The roads were treacherous, but officers traveled not just on the highways, but to some of the most rural parts of the county to assist those in need.

" Thanks to dispatchers Kennedy Lively, Daniel Leach, and Davis Miller for efficiently and professionally directing resources to where they were needed, while being the calm voice to those calling for help.
"Also, thank you to Jackson’s Heavy Haul, Stone City Towing, and Bland’s Wrecker Service for their non-stop assistance in clearing the scenes. Finally, a huge shout out to the County Highway Department for their work in getting the roadways passable once the snowfall slowed. Great job everyone. We appreciate your efforts," Sheriff Day wrote in the Facebook Post.
