Lawrence County Council Approves Recorder Contract for Digitalizing Deeds
LAWRENCE COUNTY - (January 26, 2022) - Lawrence County Recorder Myron Rainey asked the Lawrence County Council to approve a $324,165.95 contract with U.S. Imaging. This will start the first phase of digitalizing records for the county.

Lawrence County Recorder Office was approved for $324,165.95 to digitalize deeds. Clerk Myron Rainey will seek ARP funds to help with to digitalize other records.
The cost of the project will be paid r by fees already collected by the Recorder's office which has already have approximately $450,000 already in the fund.
The Recorder will also seek ARP funds to help with the digital processing of other records. Lawrence County will receive $ 8.8 Million in ARP funding however, the Lawrence County Commissioners have not released any information on how the county will disburse those funds.
The Lawrence County Commissioners have hired Baker Tilley Financial Advisors to help them direct the ARP funds.
However, early this year Lawrence County volunteer fire departments was told those funds cannot be used by their agencies. The county commissioners also refused the CARES Act funds for those agencies even the departments were on the front lines of providing emergency services over the last two years of the COVID pandemic.

Approved David Holmes request for salaries for 2022, as well as transfers and additional funds for projects. This includes $15,000 for Bridge 172 on Cement Plant Road. This is a federal aid project that will take four years before the project gets started. A transfer of $1.5 Million from Motor Vehicle Highway was approved.

Approved an amended 2022 Salary ordinance following the increase in pay for the Lawrence County Health Nurse.
