Lawrence County Council Finishes Business for the Year

LAWRENCE COUNTY - (December 23, 2021) - The Lawrence County Council finished out the year for 2021. In their final meeting the county council they approved a 6 percent for the contract nurses.




In addition, they approved increasing the salary for Lawrence County Health Nurse. Mary Kinser resigned couple months ago and filling her position have been difficult. The Lawrence County health nurse salary was $44,500 and the council voted to increase the position to $55,000.


In other business:


  • Approved grants for the Lawrence County Veterans Court of $54,779 and $68,800 Judge Bob Cline were able work in getting the veterans court established earlier this year with one participant already enrolled in the program

  • Approved a transfer for Judge John Plummer in the amount of $8,563

  • Approved a transfer of $800 from Radio for overtime for the Sheriff's department. The sheriff reporting the department is up to full staff following the graduation of his officers from the SWLEA last week

  • Approved Paula Andis request for the Indiana Tuberculosis Elimination and Laboratory Grant for the Health Department in the amount of $19,066

  • Approved Public Defender Bruce Andis request for transfer of $22,500

  • Approved the request of Lawrence County Highway Superintendent David Holmes request for the monthly transfer of $35,979



The Lawrence County Council approved appointing Scott Smith to the Lawrence County Fair Board Preservation Committee. The Lawrence County Commissioners established the committee to oversee the funds distributed to the fair board. Other committee members included Dustin Gabhart representing the Commissioners and Bill Spreen appointed by the Lawrence County Fair Board.
