Judge sentences Bedford man to prison for probation violations

LAWRENCE COUNTY - MARCH 3, 2023 - Lawrence Superior Court I Judge John M. Plummer III sentenced a Bedford man to 545 days in the Indiana department of corrections.

David Brown, 54, pleaded guilty to Battery Resulting in Moderate Bodily Injury, a Level 6 felony, as a part of a negotiated plea agreement with the State of Indiana. The plea agreement, negotiated by a Lawrence County Deputy Prosecutor. The plea agreement outlined that Brown was sentenced to the Indiana Department of Correction for a period of 547 days with jail credit for one (1) actual day served. 545 days of said sentence was suspended to supervised probation.


After many missed appointments and failure to comply with the terms of his probation Judge Plummer III sentenced him to 545 days in the Indiana Department of Correction.


Brown was arrested on June 29, 2020, on a warrant charging him with domestic battery. At 3:25 am a Bedford Police officer was approached by a woman who had visible injuries. The woman telling the officer she was injured by Brown.


The woman told officers she was struck several times in the face and rib cage and Brown would not let her leave. Brown was arrested on June 27, 2020, on charges of criminal battery and confinement.


Brown was charged with Invasion of Privacy when he violated a protective order in November 2021.
