John Williams Blvd and Beech Street Round About not expected to begin construction until 2025

BEDFORD - JANUARY 18, 2024 - The John Williams Blvd and Beech Street Round About Project is not expected to begin until 2025.

Bedford Street Commissioner David Flinn asked the Bedford Redevelopment Commission for the city's 10 percent match using Tax Incremental Funds for the project. ( TIF) 90 percent funded by the federal government transportation grant.

This city chose to use federal funds for the project, and decided to put in a Round About verses a stoplight at the intersection.

The preliminary engineering study for the project has been completed and the city will start working on the right of way this year.

The city is expected to be letting the bids on the project later this year.

The match the city will be required to match is $199,460.

The city has learned that a might have to move a 12-inch water line and the total cost of moving that water line will be the City of Bedford's responsibility. This might require the additional request for more funds for the project.
