John Wallace Chapter Daughters of American Revolution to Add Names to plaque at courthouse

LAWRENCE COUNTY - FEBRUARY 14, 2023 - Kenna Hodges of the John Wallace Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution appeared before the Lawrence County Commissioners asking permission to clean and add names to the plaque located inside the courthouse.

Thirteen names will be added to the plaque at the courthouse. The list of 29 names was added in 1949, and a second plaque was added in 1976.

The chapter would like to have this completed by the 250th anniversary of this country.

The names include:

• William Dixon

• Leah Speer Flinn

• Elijah Garton

• Michael Grindstaff

• Jacob Neideffer

• Henry Waggoner

• George Flinn

• William Flinn

• Nathan Green

• John McBride

• Edmund Terrell

Hodges said the plaque is very hard to see and needs to be cleaned.

The funding for the project will be provided by the John Wallace Chapter of the American Revolution at no cost to the county.
