Get Youth Involved in 4-H - Lawrence County 4-H Hosts 4-H Information Session in January


LAWRENCE COUNTY - DECEMBER 12, 2023 - Purdue Extension-Lawrence County and Lawrence County 4-H are pleased to announce a “Learn about 4-H” Information Session scheduled for January 16, 2024, at the 4-H Fairgrounds Expo Hall.



This informative event is tailored for new and prospective 4-H members and their families who are eager to explore the exciting opportunities 4-H has to offer.


The session will take place at 6:00 pm and promises an engaging and interactive experience for attendees.


Purdue Extension-Lawrence County experts and 4-H leaders will be on hand to provide essential information about the 4-H program, its various projects, and the numerous benefits of participation.




;We are excited to welcome new and potential members to the 4-H family and provide them with valuable insights into the enriching experiences that await them," said Lesley Lodmell, Extension Educator for 4-H and Youth Development at Purdue Extension-Lawrence County. "4-H is not just a program; a community whereyoung minds can grow, learn, and create lasting memories.



The information session will cover:


1. Overview of the 4-H Program: Learn about the history, values, and mission of 4-H


2. Project Opportunities: Discover the diverse range of projects available for 4-H members to explore anddevelop skills in.


3. Benefits of Participation: Understand the positive impact that 4-H involvement can have on personaldevelopment, leadership skills, and community engagement.


4. Registration Process: Get step-by-step guidance on how to become a 4-H member.

The event is open to all interested families, and there is no cost to attend. Attendees will have the opportunity toask questions, interact with current 4-H volunteers, and gain a firsthand understanding of the supportive 4-H

community.


"We encourage parents and guardians to bring their children to this information session to discover the numerous ways 4-H can help them grow as individuals and leaders in our community," added Lodmell.


Infobooths with 4-H Clubs will open at 5:30 with the program beginning at 6 pm. Booths will remain open forquestions after the program.

4-H Enrollment:


In 4-H, you can make friends, have fun, and try new things with the help of caring adults.


Whatever your interests or time available, there is a 4-H experience for you. 4-H is the largest youth organization in the nation, and there is a place for you with many different clubs, trips, scholarships, and other opportunities available.


Enrollment is now open and easy with the 4HOnline system, https://in.4honline.com. You can also stop by our office for questions or assistance. The $20 fee per child includes all Indiana 4-H program fees for members 2 in grades 3-12.


For Mini 4-H members (grades k-2) the fee is $5. These fees include as many clubs and/or

projects you would like.
