George"Evan" Thomas Vehslage sworn as Bedford firefighter Monday night

MONDAY - AUGUST 21, 2023 - Bedford Mayor Sam Craig swore in Evan Thomas Vehslage as the next Bedford firefighter Monday night.

Joining Evan during this special moment was his parents and four grandparents at the Stonegate Arts & Education building during the Bedford Board of Works meeting.

Evan is no stranger to the fire service as his father is about ready to retire from the Seymour Fire Department.

Evan a graduate of Seymour High School " my dad and uncle being twin brothers served with the Seymour Fire Department and I am trying to follow in their foot steps,"

" I am about a month and half in taking calls and learning the job," said Vehslage.

Veshlage is taking a Emergency Medical Technician course will be certified in about a month and half.

" I just really love the job," said Evan.
