Four Bedford residents arrested on drug charges

BEDFORD - MARCH 9, 2024 - – An investigation started on Thursday, March 7, by Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Section Detectives, Troopers from the Bloomington District, and officers from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of four local residents.

DES Detectives, Trooper Chance Humphrey and Trooper Clay McBride with his K-9 partner Noble initiated the investigation after learning of drug activity at a residence on Washboard Road.


While conducting surveillance, Troopers observed Jeffrey Werner, Age 34, of Bedford, and Ricki Lentz II, Age 34, of Bedford, leave the residence.


Troopers had knowledge Werner was wanted on an active Lawrence County arrest warrant.


A traffic stop was conducted and Troopers discovered Lentz II was wanted on an active warrant from Orange County.


Both men were arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Jail where their custody was transferred.


Using additional investigative techniques, a search warrant was served on the residence.


During the search of the Washboard Road residence, Detectives and Troopers located and seized methamphetamine, marijuana, and several firearms. Troopers arrested Penni Robertson, Age 44, of Bedford, and William Brock, Age 60, of Bedford, on drug-related charges.


Both were transported to the Lawrence County Jail where their custody was transferred.


Charges for the four Lawrence County residents are the following:


Penni Robertson: Possession of Methamphetamine w/ a Firearm – Level 5 Felony

Dealing Marijuana – Level 6 Felony

Maintaining a Common Nuisance – Level 6 Felony

Possession of Marijuana – B Misdemeanor

Possession of Paraphernalia – Class C Misdemeanor

Sheriff Greg Day, Major Andy Blackburn, and Deputy Brenton Trueblood, of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, assisted with the investigation and the execution of the search warrant.
