Florida man arrested after going 108 m.p.h. and fleeing from Seymour Police

SEYMOUR - APRIL 15, 2024 - On April 14, 2024, at approximately 10:36 PM, Patrol officers with the Seymour Police Department attempted to stop a Dodge Challenger that was clocked at 108 MPH traveling West on Tipton St. from the area of I65.

The vehicle fled from officers at a high rate of speed disregarding the safety for other vehicular traffic on the highway.

Troopers with the Indiana State Police had originally attempted to catch up with the vehicle as it was traveling at a high rate of speed on the interstate.

The vehicle continued West on Tipton St. at a high rate of speed until making an abrupt turn South on Chestnut St. As the vehicle turned South on Chestnut St., the driver struck a parked vehicle before coming to a rest on the sidewalk in the 200 block of S. Chestnut.

Officers were able to apprehend the driver, who was identified as Cooper C. Collier age 20 of Palm Harbor, Florida. It was also determined that Collier had struck another passenger vehicle in the 1800 block of E. Tipton St. prior to crashing on Chestnut St.

Collier was arrested for resisting law enforcement in a vehicle, reckless driving, criminal recklessness, and leaving the scene of a property damage crash.

Collier declined to be interviewed and was taken to the Jackson County Jail and turned over to the jail division without incident, according to Lieutenant C. J. Foster PE# 83 Seymour Police Département.
