Firefighters Respond to Structure Fire on Woodhaven Drive

BLOOMINGTON - SEPTEMBER 27, 2022 - Monroe Fire Protection District firefighters responded to the 3700 block of Woodhaven Drive Monday, morning for a structure fire.


The call reporting the fire came in just before 8:30 a.m. Monday morning.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke in the house and located fire in the kitchen area.


Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire containing it to the kitchen only. Firefighters had the fire out in less than 15 minutes of the call.


The homeowner was home at the time of the fire and woke up to smoke filling up the home and was able to safely get out along with a few dogs.


When firefighters arrived, the homeowner told firefighters cats were still inside the home. While firefighters worked on extinguishing the fire other firefighters began conducting a search of the home for the missing cats.


Firefighters pulled 11 cats safely from the home and reunited them with their owner after giving a few some oxygen.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
