Firefighters Respond to Smell of Smoke in Residence Friday afternoon

NEEDMORE - JUNE 12, 2023 - The Marshall, Oolitic and Shawswick Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a report of smoke in a residence in the 100 block of The Woods on Friday afternoon.




The 911 call reporting the fire came 2:29 pm on Friday with firefighters from Oolitic Volunteer Fire Department arriving to find no smoke or flames.


According to Oolitic Fire Chief Ted Maze the property owners had a hot spot in the insulations that caused smoke to fill up in a couple of rooms and gave the home a smell of smoke.


The fire was out on arrival of the fire department, firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to make sure the fire was completely out.


IU Lifeline Ambulance Service responded to stand-by at the scene. There were no injuries.
