" We had left when the power went out to get something to eat. Apparently, we left one of the burners on. When we got back home, I was met with a large amount of smoke. Using a fire extinguisher, and garden hose we were able to keep the fire confined to the kitchen," said Stacy Strunk the homeowner of the residence.

Strunk was evaluated at the scene by IU Lifeline Ambulance personnel for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.

Firefighters said most of the fire was out on arrival. " The damage was confined to the kitchen area, with smoke damage throughout the home." said Jessica Voorhies Fire Chief Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Firefighters took several minutes making sure the fire was out and did not extend into other parts of the home. Using fans and opening windows of the home firefighters spent several minutes removing smoke, and burnt items from the structure.
