Firefighters Respond to fire at Battery Innovation Center in Greene County

CRANE - Firefighters from Greene and Daviess Counties responded to a reported fire at the Battery Innovation Center 7900 block of Energy Drive, Newberry, Indiana.


The battery plant is just outside of Crane, Indiana east of U.S. 231 in Greene County.



The call reporting the fire came in just after 4:30 am this morning sending firefighters from Taylor Township Fire Department in Greene County, and the Odon/Madison Township Volunteer Fire Department to the fire.


There were no injuries reported at this time.


The cause of the fire is not known at this time.


Firefighters were able to the fire put out within 45 minutes of the time of call. Upon arrival firefighters found smoke conditions at the location.


The Battery Innovation Center is responsible for the testing, commercialization, and advanced learning of safe, reliable, high-performance and lightweight energy storage systmes for commercial, defense, academic partners, and industry.
