Firefighters Respond to Boat Fire near Patoka Lake Thursday Afternoon

BIRDSEYE - MAY 25, 2023 - Firefighters from Celestine and English Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a reported boat fire at Patoka Lake Marina & Lodging 2988 Dillard Road in Birdseye. The fire happened just before 4:00 pm.

According to witness at the scene the owners was filling up the boat with fuel at the gas pumps when an explosion occurred. The owners moved the boat across the street to keep the other gas pumps from catching fire.

No reports of injuries. The entrance to Patoka Lake was temporarily closed while firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.

The Indiana State Police responded to assist the fire crews.
