Firefighters respond to attic fire on J Street in Bedford

BEDFORD - JANUARY 17, 2024 - Firefighters responded to a fire in an attic in a residence located in the 500 block of J Street Bedford , Indiana Wednesday night.

When firefighters arrived they found light smoke conditions inside the residence however, no visible flames. on the outside of the residence.


Temperatures was at a cold 23 degrees when firefighters pulled out of the city's three fire stations.



No one was injured in the fire.


Ambulance crews from IU Lifeline Ambulance checked on the occupants of the the home.


Firefighters used ladders to access the attic and stretched handlines if needed.

All three stations responded to the fire that was reported around 10:15 pm with Rescue 1, Ladder 1, Engine 2 and Engine 3 with a total of 9 firefighters on the scene.



At this time firefighters were not available to say what caused the fire as they were still working in getting the fire under control.
