BEDFORD - OCTOBER 3, 2022 - A fire destroyed a home in the 300 block of Shawswick School Road Monday evening.
The call reporting the fire came in at 5:34 p.m. sending firefighters from the Shawswick and Pleasant Run Township Volunteer Fire Departments to the scene.
" I just got laid off from General Motors and now this happens. I do not have any insurance," said Jason Grant owner of the mobile home.
The homeowner was not at home when the fire was reported. A large column of smoke could be seen for several miles before the fire was reported.
The mobile home sat several feet off the roadway.
Fire Chief Bobby Brown Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department says " At this time the fire remains under investigation, we are unsure of caused this fire,"
Jackson County REMC responded to the scene to disconnect power and IU Helth Lifeline ground ambulance service was dispatched to provide stand-by for fire personnel.
Firefighters remained on the scene until about 7:45 p.m.
