Fire Department Releases Details on Barn Fire on Bono Road Sunday Afternoon
MITCHELL - (March 27,2022) - Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 3:17 to a barn fire with Huron Fire Department as automatic mutual aid.

Engine 52 arrived and found approximately 40 by 20 pole barn fully involved in fire. Close exposures of a horse trailer/ camper in front of the structure and another pole barn with animals on the back side of the pole barn.

Engine 52 deployed 2 attack lines. One to protect the trailer which was sitting approximately 5 feet from the structure and another line around to the back to protect the other pole barn around 15 to 20 feet from the involved structure.

Minor damage to the horse trailer and no damage to the other pole barn. A downed power line hampered efforts and Orange County REMC was called to the scene to secure the wire. Family members had arrived and led firefighters to a breaker box inside a nearby garage and the main breaker was thrown securing the power to the downed wire. Crews remained on scene until 5:49 p.m.

The family was out of town during the fire and will be returning. A full investigation is pending the families return. Cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and remains under investigation.
