Units arrived to find a partially collapsed barn with heavy fire and smoke coming from it.

The location of the fire was down a long drive making access for fire trucks difficult and slowed water supply resources.

The land was being cleared of trees and brush and had large piles burning to get rid of the debris. Hot embers from the brush piles blew onto the barn catching it on fire. The wind also blew embers from the barn into a wooded area creating approximately a 5-acre brush fire for firefighters to deal with as well. The barn was full of landscaping cloth material.

Firefighters remained on scene for several hours working to contain the brush fire, extinguishing the barn, and soaking down hot spots.

Monroe Fire Protection District was assisted on scene by Center-Jackson Fire Territory and Beech Creek Township Fire Department from Greene County, IU Health Lifeline Ambulance and Monroe County Sheriff Office.

Shortly after firefighters arrived at this fire the remaining Monroe Fire Protection District stations were dispatched to Weimer Rd and Garrison Chapel Road for possible brush fires.

The two fires were small and did not require extensive manpower and equipment.

Monroe Fire Protection District was assisted by Ellettsville Fire Department on the Garrison Chapel Road call.
