Females Ex-Boyfriend Arrested for Criminal Confinement

SEYMOUR - MAY 16, 2022 - On May 12, 2022, at approximately 7:25 PM, The Seymour Police Department received a request for a welfare check on a female that did not return to work after a break. Patrol Officers checked the area where the female was last seen as well as other locations and were unable to locate her.



On May 13, 2022, the Seymour Police Department learned that the female had reached out to someone and gave a possible location. Using technology, Investigators with the Seymour Police Department were able to locate the female in the Columbus, Indiana area. With the assistance of the Columbus Police Department, the female was located along with a male individual.


Investigators interviewed the female. The female stated that an ex-boyfriend pulled her into a vehicle and drove off. While in the vehicle, the victim said the ex-boyfriend battered her several times. Investigators were going to make and attempt to interview the suspect, but he became combative with Columbus Police Officers, so he was not interviewed.


Investigators with the Seymour Police Department arrested James A. Hampton Jr. age 53 of Seymour for criminal confinement, intimidation, and domestic battery. Hampton Jr. was taken to the Jackson County Jail and turned over to the Jail Division for processing.
