Experienced Educators to Lead Springville Community Academy

SPRINGVILLE - (February 25, 2022) - Two experienced educators will lead the Springville Community Academy.

Ms. Jayme Spoonmore Davis, has been named Academy Administrator for the school opening in August 2022. Ms. Davis kids are fifth generation in the community.

" The roots are deep, and the ties are strong," said Davis. Ms. Davis has taught for 17 years first year as a PE teacher, then 16 years in the classroom in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. Her career at North Lawrence Community School included teaching at Needmore, Lincoln, Springville and Eastern Greene Schools.

" I have known Jayme for many years, she is a good outstanding person with her deep roots in this community and caring person," said Gary Conner will serve as the Academic Advisor to the Academy. " This is a fantastic opportunity for the community, the local school is the heart of the community," said Conner.


" Gary has helped us from the time that North Lawrence Community Schools decided to close the schools in January 2020. We met in the basement of the Springville Methodist Church on February 17, 2020," said Albert Cross President Springville Community Academy. Gary Conner was the former Superintendent of North Lawrence Community Schools and helped Lawrence County Independent Schools with their application for their charter school.

A volunteer group of volunteers have helped formulate the learning curriculum for the K-6 school.


Connor believes having smaller class sizes will help students thrive, and a better learning environment.


" The House system will be vertical vs. horizontal using the House System from Ron Clark Academy. " stated Jayme Davis.



There will be a variety of programs that the students will be able to take part in with outdoor programing that will include hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening just to name a few.


Ball State University is the charter authorizer and will be monitoring the schools progress as the school year develops over the next school year.
