Early Voting Dates and times announced for Mitchell and Bedford Municipal Elections

LAWRENCE COUNTY - OCTOBER 16, 2023 - The early voting dates and times have been released for this years municipal election for the City of Bedford and Mitchell.



The Town of Oolitic did not have any contested races.


The Mitchell Mayor race seems to be the biggest race in this year's election with Republican Don Caudell and Democrat Eugene "Pud" Terrell running for Mitchell Mayor.


Former Mitchell Mayor J.D. England and Mitchell Town Clerk/ Treasurer Mark Bryant both Republicans resigned their seats.

Current Mitchell Mayor Nathan Jenkins lost the primary election to Don Caudell for the Republican nomination.


There are two contested city council races in Mitchell.


Mitchell City Council District 2 race: Chris L. Carlisle and William James Erdle both Independents will face off.


Mitchell City Council District 3 former Mitchell Mayor Dan Terrell Republican will face off with former city council member Joey Slone Democrat candidate.


The City of Bedford has only one contested race in Bedford city council district 5 with Republican Kathy Blackburn facing off with Democrat Don George.


Election day voters will be able to vote at the Mitchell Community Center, Parkview Intermediate and the Lawrence County Courthouse on November 7th from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.



Early Voting dates and times at voter registration :

  • October 23 - 27 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

  • Saturday October 28 from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm

  • October 30 to November 3 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

  • Saturday November 4 from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm

  • Monday November 6 from 8:00 am to noon

Early Voting at Mitchell Community Center:

  • Saturday October 28 - 8:30 am to 3:30 pm

  • Saturday November 4th - 8:30 am to 3:30 pm
