Due to large crowd expected tonight's Lawrence County council meeting moved to Circuit courtroom
LAWRENCE COUNTY - AUGUST 22, 2023 - Due to a large number of people expected to turnout at tonight's Lawrence County Council meeting; the meeting has been moved to the Circuit Courtroom.
The meeting will be held at the Lawrence County Courthouse at 6:30 pm tonight.

The agenda will remain the same.
Lawrence County Sheriff Greg Day will be presenting a pay study during tonight's meeting.
All public safety agencies across the state have been demanding higher pay.

Lawrence County Council have raised courthouse staff pay and was threatened with Judge mandates if they failed to do so in 2021.
The Lawrence County Council members raised the county's elected member's pay more than 20 percent after they demanded more pay over the last two budget cycles.
A brief look at the 2024 budget will raise almost by $3 to $4 million with several budget lines raised over the 2023 budget.
Property taxes have increased for most county residents. The assessed value in Lawrence County is approximately $2 million.
