Update: Indiana State Police car stolen in a pursuit and the suspect wrecked the vehicle

DAVIESS COUNTY - JULY 11, 2023 - Updated: Greene County Sheriff Department says that Eric James King was located about 4:00 am this morning without incident. The suspect was located on Mt. Nebo Road which was in the area the suspect fled from the scene on Tuesday evening. There is no longer a risk to the public.

Update :Daviess County – Earlier today, Troopers with the Indiana State Police and Martin County Sheriff’s Office attempted to arrest Eric James King, 41, of Paoli on a warrant for escape out of Martin County. When officers located King on US 231 in Daviess County, he refused to comply with officers and fled the scene in a vehicle. It is believed that King's vehicle ran out of fuel and pulled into a private drive. When officers located and attempted to take King into custody, he was able to gain control of a police vehicle, which he used to ram another police vehicle. King fled the scene in the stolen vehicle and eventually crashed in a field in southern Greene County. After an extensive search of the area, police were unable to locate King.

King is a white male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, with brown hair, brown eyes, with a beard and mustache. If anyone observes King, do not approach, and call 911. King should be considered armed and dangerous.

Nothing else will be released at this time.

Greene County Residents near Newberry:

Southern Greene County - Residents near the Scotland / Newberry area. Police are currently looking for a possible armed suspect. Do not answer the door for any unknown white males. The suspect is wearing a bright colored shirt, shorts and boots. Eric James King of Shoals is that suspect.

A developing story an Indiana State Police vehicle was stolen and the suspect crashed the vehicle on Mt. Nebo Road.

No suspect information or details is the incident is available at this time. This incident happened around 5:40 pm near Odon, Indiana.
