City Council Tables Request to make an alley one -way between 6 1/2 and 71/2 Streets

BEDFORD - SEPTEMBE 19, 2022 - The Bedford City Council tabled a request to make an alley between 6 1/2 and 7 1/2 Streets one way at this time.

The city is looking at ways to address the situation in order for Lincoln Plaza to install a drive through window at the business. There may not be a need to make the alley a one-way street.

This includes moving the drive through down further (approximately 15 feet) from the original location to address traffic concerns.

In a previous Board of Works meeting at 4:00 p.m. Monday night the Board of Works also agreed to installing a sign for a disabled child that lives in the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue.

It was discovered that 7 1/2 street was also a one- way street on near O Street and details on how traffic flow within the area will be addressed.

Mayor Sam Craig will bring back the matter for final approval at a later meeting.

The Mayor, City Planning, Street Department and Police Department have been looking at the issue. A local resident who has a disabled child that lives in the area have expressed concerns over making the alley a one-way, as well as 7 1/2 street.
