" Christmas on Main Street" Saturday December 11 in Oolitic

OOLITIC - (December 5, 2021) - The Town of Oolitic will be hosting " Christmas on Main Street" next Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.


Annete Norrick Oolitic Town Clerk-Treasurer and Bethany Prichett is preparing for Next Saturday's event



The event will be a great event for the young and adults alike as there will be something for all ages. The town is looking forward to celebrating the Christmas season with fun, food and a really good time to be had by all.


Inside Oolitic Town Hall is Decorated for the Holidays


All day Friday, Town employees and community members spent the day getting things ready for the special event.



Covered Wagon Rides


Chuck Edge from Milltown, Indiana will be bringing two team of horses, and two wagons one of which will be accessible for those who have physical mobility issues. The rides will be free of charge; however, he will be accepting tips. The load and unloading place will be at the empty parking lot located at Main and Lafeyette Streets.



Santa Will Arrive at 5:00 p.m.


Santa will be arriving at Town Hall in a special way so be there at 5:00 to watch Santa Come into Town. Santa will be at the Town Hall passing out gifts. Cookies and Hot Chocolate will be available while supplies last. Donations of unwrapped gifts like puzzles, games, and like items are being accepted at three locations which include town hall, Oolitic Hair Company and Casey's General Store. " Heidi Chenault has been working very hard in making this a successful event," said Annete Norrick.


Volunteers spent Friday decorating the area around Town Hall for Saturday's event, Oolitic Town Marshall Jon Jefferies just runs away - Everyone was having a good time.


Tree Lighting Ceremony - 7:30 p.m.


A tree lighting ceremony will take place at the tree that sits between the Oolitic Town Hall and Post Office. The Oolitic Baptist Church will be serving beverages and snacks while supplies last.


Reindeer Food at Oolitic Hair Care


Heidi Chenault Forrest will be having children prepare "Reindeer Food" at the Oolitic Hair Care at the corner of Lafeyette and Main. Children are encouraged to come by and make a trail mix to feed Santa's Reindeer. This will take place while supplies last.


Petting Zoo at Park Across from Town Hall


Thanks to Julie Huddleston there will be a petting zoo located at the park across from the Towns Hall. Lost River Game Farm will be bringing animals for children and adults alike to interact with.


First letter arrives in Santa's Mailbox Friday


Santa Accepting Letters


Santa will be accepting letters until December 11, final night of the event. Children are encouraged to stop by Town Hall and pick up a letter.


There have been many individuals who have helped with this event which include Misty Taylor, Diane Claycomb, Heidi Chenault Forrest, Carla Roberts, Janet Prichett, Chris and Peggy True, Bethany Prichett. These people have helped plan and organize the event.


Pick-up letter to Santa at Oolitic Town Hall and Santa will send Reply


" I want to thank Beth Prichett for the construction of Santa, Mailbox, Nutcrakers, and Lollipops," said Annette Norrick.


" We want to thank those who have donated to this event, and those who have donated the gifts for children of all ages," Norrick added.


For transparency purposes Norrick wanted to make sure that the residents are aware $900 from the promotion fund. A total of $1,400 a year, is budgeted for events.
