Bedford City Council At-Large Candidate

In announcing his candidacy Bortner pointed to the accomplishments that have been achieved during his first term. “We set out to get some things done that needed addressed. Working with the Mayor and his Team we were able to secure a new location for the police department, make solid strides on infrastructure improvements, and were able to address the staffing issues in public safety. I want to continue the work we have started in order to ensure Bedford remains a great place to live and raise a family.”

Bortner currently serves as the Director of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and is also the State of Indiana’s Historic Preservation Officer. While he is finishing up his first term on the Bedford City Council, he previously served on the Lawrence County Council from 1995 thru 2006. He is the President of the Board of the Green Hill Cemetery Association in Bedford, a Board Member of the Indiana State Museum, the Indiana Environmental Review Board, and is Secretary of the Indiana Natural Resources Commission.
